Cousinard, Lode Geens, David Maroto, Mihael Milunovic,
Julia Oschatz, Nathaniel Rackowe, Arno Roncada and Rafael
Vargas-Suarez. Curator: Lara Pan.The starting point for
this artistic research is an imaginary confrontation
between two literary figures, the Greek poet Constantin
Cavafy and US SF Master Frederik Pohl. The Walls and
Gateways project proposes to explore some stakes in
controversial curatorial practices. It is significant to
think about the process of how to break the disciplinary
ghettos.... Artists have their own way of thinking and
they are not inferior to the way curators, art
historians, and philosophers think. They are only
responsible for their own work, reconstructing an idea
from the beginning, taking different components and
plugging them into the next one and seeing what happens
in the end... This leads us into an unfinished, changing
and evolving process. Walls are more about spatial
restraints. Walls are evident in human existence (in the
need for shelter, emprisonment, etc.) Gateways can be the
spiritual creation and confrontation of time and
temporality, an observation of the past, present and
future, a response to the resistance of time...
