Solo Show at the Delfina Foundation

The result of my
residency in Beirut, this solo show has two sculptures
and six drawings.

The time I spent in Beirut was incredibly
inspirational, and since the beginning of the year I
have had time to process all that. My solo show,
opening tonight at the Delfina Foundation in
London’s Victoria, is the culmination of this
process, new works that have come about from my
experience of living in Beirut for two months.

Black Shed (Stacked) 2010, is the latest work in the shed series (after Black Shed, and Black Shed (Expanded)), this time the shed leans against the wall in its component parts, the sections it is in when is arrives at my studio. Each piece is carefully encapsulated in bitumen and gloss paint.
The rear of each part has cool fluorescent lights attached. This creates a glow behind the work, reflecting the lime green of the gloss paint on the walls around the work.

LP25, 2009, is the one work in the show actually made in Beirut. It uses the corrugated roof panels commonly found in the temporary, or in fact not so temporary, structures that litter the city.
